The regional guide, Piedmont Native Plants: A Guide for Landscapers and Gardens, produced by the Plant Northern Piedmont Natives partnership tells the story of Piedmont native plants. It recommends locally native plants that will not only add beauty to gardens and landscapes, but best support our local ecosystems and food webs.
In this guide, Piedmont native plants are defined as plants that evolved before the influences of European settlements began to shape and change the landscape. Plants included in the guide were selected from the Digital Atlas of the Virginia Flora and occur naturally within the region.
